LTVCA Hosts Third Annual “Cultivating Conservation Tour” in West Elgin/Dutton-Dunwich

West Elgin – On Thursday, September the 14th, the Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority (LTVCA), will host their third annual “Cultivating Conservation Tour”.

The goal of this interactive tour is to increase awareness about regional environmental issues while providing examples of solutions at actual project sites. The Cultivating Conservation Tour also allows us to highlight the types of funding available to rural land owners, and the kinds of stewardship projects that can be implemented to help restore a property naturally, as well as best management practices for these processes.

Each project highlighted during the Cultivating Conservation Tour has been undertaken by landowners in collaboration with the LTVCA. Projects will showcase tree plantings, wetland habitat restoration, native pollinator plantings, and agricultural water quality improvement initiatives.  At the tour’s project sites, attendees will have the opportunity to learn about soil health, regional water quality research, woodlot management, marginal land restoration, and species at risk.  Landowners will showcase their properties, offering other landowners’ opportunities to inquire about the process and success of LTVCA’s stewardship programs

The ‘Cultivating Conservation Tour’ will take place from 12pm-4pm, concluding with a social gathering, dinner, and testimonials from landowners at Arrowood Farm & Events (6460 Riverside Dr, Melbourne),  from 5:00pm-8:00pm.

Whether you are interested in the tour and dinner or the tour only, we ask that you sign up on Eventbrite at: https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/cultivating-conservation-tour-tickets-696172519747?aff=oddtdtcreator

Or visit ltvca.ca and check out our events page.  All details and project site locations will be listed on Eventbrite.  This event will take place rain or shine, with the exemption of thunderstorms, in which case it will be cancelled.  Don’t wait, availability is limited!
