https://www.lowerthames-conservation.on.ca/locations/walter-devereux-conservation-area/

When: 1 p.m.., September 20, 2017

What: The Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority (LTVCA) with financial support from Union Gas and Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (OMAFRA), is developing this 32 hectare property (80 acres) as a farm demonstration site.  Join us for a trail opening ceremony, meet the partners involved and take a walk on the trail to see what the property has to offer!

“Visitors can walk the 2.5 km trail to learn about Best Management Practices on their farms including cover crops, soil management, windbreaks, forest products, selective harvesting, bio fuel and uses for tall grass prairie,” explains Randall Van Wagner, LTVCA’s Manager of Conservation Lands and Services.

“Union Gas is pleased to support the Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority’s development of a farm demonstration site at the Walter Devereux Conservation Area,” said Sean Collier, Union Gas’ District Manager, Windsor/Chatham. “We share the LTVCA’s commitment to environmental conservation. This latest partnership is one of many over the past few years and we are pleased to continue with our support of their efforts.”

“Ontario’s support for the Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority is leading to the development of a farm demonstration site to help Ontario farmers learn innovative ways to protect water quality and improve efficiency in their operations. This is another great example of the province working with partners to deliver benefits for farmers, and help grow our agri-food sector,” said Jeff Leal, Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs.

Partners: LTVCA, Union Gas, OMAFRA
