Please Vote for Our AVIVA Community Fund Project Idea!

September 21, 2017

We have submitted an application to the AVIVA Community Fund for funding towards improving the canoe route between Thamesville and Chatham. Please go to this link and vote for this community project between October 10 and 19th! The unique link to our idea page is:
https://www.avivacommunityfund.org/voting/project/view/17-48

Tell everyone you know (and even those you don’t!) about this incredible idea and encourage them to vote from October 10, 2017 to October 19, 2017!

We plan to encourage active use of the Thames river from Thamesville through Chatham Ontario by creating a designated canoe route with several stops. The canoe route is modeled after the Saugeen river route system. It will be complete with signage, launches, and overpass mile markers on this small section of river. A portion of the route will pass through the Delaware Nation reserve and connect with their Weelateexung Nature Trail. It will also pass the Fairfield heritage site and connect with War of 1812 history. Some launch sites have already been assessed for feasibility and signage design templates are ready for production. Launches will be passive to reduce future maintenance costs.
